Odisha Power Generation Corporation Ltd`s Manoharpur OCP is not moving ahead as various clearances from the Odisha government have not yet been received. The mining lease of the Manoharpur coal mine has been held up since 2008. While the Government of Odisha had recommended the proposal to the coal ministry way back in December 2012, the ministry has not taken any decision yet on the proposal.
Further, the project is yet to get environment clearance from the MoEF. In 2012, MoEF had asked for revised mining plan which the developer had provided in December 2013. The proposal is reportedly under MoEF’s consideration. While OPGC has secured stage I forest clearance, Stage II FC has still remained elusive.
