Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation Ltd (MSRDC) will see closure of its 10 toll plazas in the state as a result of recent decision of the Maharashtra state government to shut 44 toll plazas in the state. Then the state government had estimated that it had to pay Rs 309 crore to the developers. Interestingly, MSRDC has approached Maharashtra government for a one-time compensation of around Rs.1,785 crore towards closure of these toll stations.

These 10 toll plazas are relating to two MSRDC projects. From these 10 toll stations, 8 are related to the Nagpur-Aurangabad-Sinnar-Ghoti-Mumbai improvement highway which shall have an impact on the toll income of MSRDC. MSRDC earned toll income of Rs.42 crore from these 8 toll plazas combined during FY14. According to the Corporation, nearly 10% of its annual revenue will be impacted due to this closure order.
