A multi-storey multi-modal transport hub has been planned over 10 acre of land in Bakri Bazaar to provide seamless travel to and from Patna Junction.
The proposal is likely to be tabled in the next board meeting of the Patna Smart City (PSCL) for approval. The project will include various transport services such as city bus service, autos and private cabs under one roof.
A detailed project report has been prepared for the project. The final building design will be prepared by the Bihar State Building Construction Corporation (BSBCCL).
It is a part of the railway station area redevelopment project of the PSCL, under which a pedestrian subway and a bridge connecting to multi-level car parking and activity centre will come up at the Station Road.
As per the plans, the ground floor of the building will have space for city buses, while other floors will have space for private cabs and autorickshaws.
The bus parking stand near the multi-level car parking (MLCP) and for autos near Patna Junction roundabout will be removed for the project. It will be connected to the pedestrian subway, which will have the facility of travelators and escalators.
The construction work has already started for 440 mtr long subway including 340 mtr underground tunnel, which will have fire extinguisher, lights, LED screens and drainage system.
The project is likely to be completed by December 2023 at an investment of Rs 68.85 crore.
