The Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari, has approved funds totaling Rs 494.45 crore for the rehabilitation and upgrade of the Kashipur-Ramnagar section of National Highway 121 in Udham Singh Nagar and Nainital districts. This initiative aims to enhance connectivity to Jim Corbett National Park from Moradabad and Rampur in Uttar Pradesh to Delhi/Lucknow. The project corridor represents one of Uttarakhand’s busiest tourist routes.
Additionally, Shri Nitin Gadkari has allocated Rs 626.01 crore for National Highway 150A, covering a stretch of 13.087 km across Bellary and Ananthpur districts in Karnataka. This project entails the completion of the 4-laning of the Bellary Bypass, including the Bellary to Byrapur Section of National Highway 150A. Moreover, a 28 km Bypass on the southern side is already underway as part of the broader Hospet to Bellary project.
Furthermore, the minister has sanctioned Rs 1,346.81 crore for expanding the existing 2-lane paved shoulder from the Tamil Nadu/Andhra Pradesh border to Puttur (20.03 km) on National Highway-716 in Andhra Pradesh. This initiative involves upgrading the existing highway to a 4-lane highway with a paved shoulder. Additionally, the widening of the existing 4-lane paved shoulder from Mallavaram junction to Renigunta junction (17.40 km) on NH-71 to a 6-lane Paved Shoulder will also be undertaken in Chittoor and Tirupati districts under Package-2.
A sum of Rs 374.17 crore has been sanctioned for constructing a 3.5 km long 6-lane flyover at Ainthapalli junction and a 2-lane ROB (LHS) on NH-53 (formerly NH-6) in the Sambalpur district, Odisha, under the EPC mode.
Moreover, Rs. 224.44 crore has been allocated for constructing the Shopian Bypass on National Highway-444, converting it into a 2-lane configuration with a paved shoulder. This upgrade, spanning 8.925 km in the Shopian district, will be executed under the EPC mode, benefiting apple growers in south Kashmir, particularly in the Shopian district, by facilitating faster transportation of produce to markets.
In Arunachal Pradesh, an allocation of Rs 6621.62 crore has been made for constructing eight packages of 265.49 km Frontier Highway on National Highway 913 under the EPC mode. These packages cover various sections, aiding the development of upcoming Hydropower projects in the state.
Lastly, in Jharkhand, Rs 292.65 crore has been sanctioned for the 4-laning of the Tower Chowk to Basukinath section of National Highway 114A in Dumka district, easing transportation to religious places such as Deoghar and Basukinath.
