Electric propulsion technology startup Vimag Labs has commenced manufacturing operations at its first production facility in Met City, Jhajjar, Haryana, and completed its initial export shipment of motor and control systems.

The development marks the company’s transition from technology development and validation to industrial-scale manufacturing and serial production. Vimag Labs plans to invest approximately Rs 500 million (Rs 50 crore) in phases as customer programmes expand and demand for its products increases.

The 10,000-square-foot facility, which can be expanded to 20,000 square feet, manufactures motor and control systems, including the company’s magnet-free motor technology. The plant is equipped with digitally connected production lines, automated assembly systems and testing infrastructure for mid-power systems.

The facility’s initial configuration is designed to scale up to a monthly production capacity of 10,000 motor and control units. The company also plans to expand manufacturing capabilities to cover high-power systems rated at 570 kW and above as customer programmes mature.

Commenting on the development, Manish Seth, Co-Founder and CEO of Vimag Labs, said the commencement of manufacturing represents an important milestone in the company’s journey from technology development to industrialisation and commercial production.

He added that the proposed ₹50-crore investment would be deployed in phases, depending on customer programmes, market traction and product requirements. The scale and timing of the investment will be adjusted in line with demand as the company expands its production capacity and strengthens its manufacturing base.

The initial production batch has already been exported from Jhajjar, marking the facility’s entry into commercial manufacturing and establishing the first step in Vimag Labs’ broader manufacturing expansion plans across India.
