Hyderabad: March 16, 2022: SVKM’s Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) Deemed-to-be University has signed memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with seven leading corporates across various sectors.
The major objective of these MoUs is to produce skilled manpower across various sectors and thus fill the human resources gap between the growing demand and stagnant supply.
The MoUs were signed between NMIMS and the seven corporate that include The International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid-Tropics (ICRISAT), Patancheru (Telangana), Sri Bioaesthetics Private Limited, Hyderabad, Varsha Bioscience, and Technology India Technology Pvt. Ltd, Hyderabad, Tripura Biotech Limited, Hyderabad, Prathista Industries Limited, Hyderabad, Agri Life, Sangareddy (Telangana), and Vaishnavi Biotech Limited, Hyderabad.
As part of the memoranda of understanding (MoUs) signed between NMIMS University, applicable for all campuses, and these corporate, parties will collaborate in imparting training and consulting services to prepare technical and managerial manpower. While Dr. Tapan Kumar Panda gave an overview of NMIMS and Hyderabad campus, Dr. Akshay Malhotra, Director, NMIMS shirpur campus shared the outlook of Dr. Amrish Patel, Hon’ble Chancelior, NMIMS University in giving back to the Society and also shared about the Shirpur campus. Dr. Suseelendra Desai, Dean, School of Agricultural Sciences and Technology presented an overview of Shirpur campus and active involvement of the industry partners in a Private-private partnership mode for entrepreneurship development. The MoUs were signed by Dr. Meena Chintamaneni, Pro-Vice-Chancellor & Registrar, and the representatives of the aforementioned CEOs of the corporates. Dr. P. Chandra Sekhara Rao, former Dean, PJTSAU emphasised on eco-friendly agriculture and sustainable soil health management. While appreciating the efforts, Dr. Meena Chinatamaneni mentioned that skill-oriented learning systems will be the foundation for career development of the students. Dr. Ramesh Bhat, Vice Chancellor graced the events as Chief Guest and in his address he highlighted the need of skill development and quality education systems and ensured participation of students of SAST in mandated agro-industry attachment programs. While the partnership with industry will help in building the career of the students, focus also should be laid on collaborative research programs with the faculty in the future.
Under the agreement, NMIMS Campuses and these corporates will promote “academic and research collaboration in mutually accepted subjects, facilitate student and faculty exchange or visits, knowledge sharing and organise joint workshops, seminars, conferences and training programmes.

As India leapfrogs from an import reliant a few decades ago in agriculture to becoming self-reliant and then huge strides in the export of value-added products, there will be an enhanced and continuous need for skilled manpower. We seek to fill in this gap by creating a symbiotic relationship with all my partners in various spheres of academics, research, and training across all sectors.”
Agriculture sector ranks second toward contributing to state GDP (SGP). The share of agriculture in total employment has jumped to 39.4% whereas manufacturing has dropped to 7.3%. Unemployment rates in rural and urban areas are estimated to be 1.3% and 6.9%. The unskilled workforce in Agriculture is 85% v/s the global average of 44%.
This industry-academia partnership will ensure consistent supply of high skilled workforce in the fast emerging agribusiness and agri tech sector in Telangana.
AgriTech sector is identified as a sunrise sector with 28% CAGR and has attracted budding entrepreneurs in the state. Our partnership with THub will bring tech enabled agri entrepreneurs and investors on a common platform to rapidly transform the landscape of Telangana, he added.
In today’s time, partnerships between industry and academia will be instrumental to advancing research and knowledge and creating a skilled workforce. Collaboration between industry and academia is key to catalyzing innovation and growth in technology. Hence, NMIMS is taking a step ahead to sign MoU and it is attended by top industry members.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Akshay Malhotra, Director, Shirpur campus highlighted the faculties at Shirpur campus and also stressed the need to produce more skilled manpower to support India’s growth story.
While the MoU with Sribioaesthetics was signed by the company’s chairman and managing director Dr. K.R.K. Reddy, the agreement with PIL was inked by the company’s President and managing director Dr. KVSS Sairam. On behalf of Tripura Biotech, Dr. MVSS Sairam, President & MD, signed the MoU, Dr. John Peter, CMD, signed the agreement for Varsha Biosciences. On behalf of Vaishnavi Biotech, Dr. M. Vaishnavi, CMD signed the MoU, and Dr. Venkatesh Devanoor, CEO inked the pact for Agrilife.
