The Gujarat government is planning a major infrastructure upgrade of the Ahmedabad–Mehsana Road, with the existing four-lane corridor set to be widened into an eight-lane highway at an estimated cost of Rs 2,600 crore.

The project involves the strengthening and expansion of State Highway-41 (SH-41), which serves as an important road connectivity link between Ahmedabad and Mehsana in North Gujarat.

The proposed eight-lane upgrade is expected to significantly enhance the road’s traffic-handling capacity, reduce congestion and improve travel efficiency for commuters and commercial vehicles.

The project will involve widening the existing four-lane carriageway and strengthening road infrastructure to facilitate smoother vehicle movement. The additional lanes are expected to ease traffic pressure, particularly during peak hours, while improving road safety and reducing travel delays.

Once completed, the upgraded corridor is expected to strengthen connectivity between Ahmedabad and North Gujarat, supporting passenger movement, industrial activities and regional trade.

The improved highway infrastructure is also expected to facilitate faster transportation of goods, benefiting businesses and industries dependent on road connectivity between Ahmedabad and Mehsana.
