BGR Mining secured the largest order of Rs 17,290 crore

A total of 400 contracts with an aggregate order value of Rs 64,856.37 crore were awarded in February 2023, as per the data compiled by Projects Today.

The largest project contract finalised in February 2023 was by the power giant, NTPC. The company handed over a contract worth Rs 17,289.75 crore to BGR Mining & Infra for development and operation of Kerendari-A coal block in Hazaribagh district of Jharkhand.

Eleven high value contracts finalised in the Coal sector saw the share of the sector in the total contract value to 35.14 percent. In all, 11 contracts were awarded with an aggregate value of Rs 22,790.85 crore during the month.

The re-opening of the mine auctions by Coal India and its subsidiaries in the recent past saw increase in mine contract finalisation in the recent months. Two mega contracts were bagged by KLP Enterprises and NCC.

While, KLP Enterprises bagged a contract worth Rs 4,667.05 crore from South Eastern Coalfields for hiring of HEMM for OB removal for quantity 39,93,55,530 Cum at Baroud OC of Raigarh, Chhattisgarh, NCC bagged a contract worth Rs 319.87 crore from Western Coalfields for OB removal and rehandling work by hiring equipment at new Majri Ug to OC Mine of Majri Area in Chandrapur district of Maharashtra.

The 13 contracts worth Rs 607.32 crore finalised in the Manufacturing sector were spread across Food processing, Petroleum refinery, Metals and Machinery sub-sectors.

The Infrastructure sector accounted for 54.54 percent of the total contract value awarded in February 2023. In all, 339 project contracts worth Rs 35,371.44 crore were finalised in this sector.

In the Water & Sewerage Pipeline & Distribution sector, 68 contracts were awarded with an aggregate value of Rs 16,743.79 crore. The Madhya Pradesh Jal Nigam Maryadit awarded 15 contracts with a total value of Rs 12,993.09 crore. The 15 contracts included:

  1. Dilip Buildcon in JV with Skyway Infraprojects bagged a major contract worth Rs 1,947.06 crore for execution of Rewa-Bansagar Multi Villages Scheme in Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh.
  2. KEC International bagged a contract worth Rs 1,872.88 crore for execution of Satna-Bansagar-2 Multi Villages Scheme in Satna & Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh.

The Water, Sewage & Effluent Treatment sector saw the finalisation of six new contracts worth Rs 1,810.54 crore during the month. AG Enviro Infra Projects bagged a major contract worth Rs 1,024 crore from the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) for collection & demolition (C&D) of 600 tons per day.

The Roadways sector saw the finalisation of 120 new contracts worth Rs 9,199.19 crore during the month. Larsen & Toubro (L&T) bagged a major contract worth Rs 2,585 crore from the Government of India, Ministry of Defence for indigenous manufacture of 41 sets of modular bridges.

Another major contract in the Roadways sector was secured by IRB Infrastructure Developers worth Rs 2,132 crore from National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for six laning with paved shoulder of NH-27 from Samakhiyali to Santalpur in Gujarat on BOT (Toll) basis.

Three new contracts were awarded in the Hydel Based Power sector worth Rs 4,871.99 crore. Of this, L&T bagged the largest contract worth Rs 3,241.08 crore from UJVN for balance civil works for the construction of 204m high concrete gravity dam on river Yamuna of Lakhwar Multipurpose Project in Dehradun / Tehri Garhwal, Uttarakhand.

L&T bagged another notable contract in Hydel Based Power sector worth Rs 1,622.12 crore from NHPC for the construction of access roads to the project dam site, left bank road network, Dibang bridges, dam site right bank road network and temporary haulage road to Pathar Camp from ADC Morh including all civil and HM works of diversion tunnel for NHPC Ltd, Dibang Multipurpose Project (2,880 MW) in Arunachal Pradesh.
