 Tamil Nadu floats consultancy tender for new Parandur airport The Tamil Nadu state government has issued a tender to select a consultant to conduct research and assist in selecting a partner to build the Parandur airport within two years. The new airport is located around 70 km from the city.

The tender has been floated following the acquisition of around 4,500 acroes of land for the project. TIDCO has been appointed by the state government to finalise a consultant and construct the airport.

The selected consultant will have to conduct studies on obstacle limitations, market demand, air-traffic forecast, environment impact and draw up a master plan for the area.

The new airport will have two runways, two passenger terminals, a cargo terminal and an MRO. The Parandur airport to be built at Rs 20,000 crore will handle around 100 million passengers per annum.
